ongoing, perhaps when mr. romney becomes our next president, we are hoping that whoever gets the office, we have the worst civil rights violation in mississippi and the correction in the local and state government in mississippi. lives are being hurt. children are being kidnapped. i was very motivated to your mitt romney talk about the first amendment. >> we will get a couple more calls. back to our twitter stream. -- her ee is one this one says -- ours go to a caller on democrat line. go ahead. caller: i am a registered democrat. i am on a fixed income. i worry about our medicare and social security. people are on fixed incomes and depend on social security and medicare. i will vote for mitt romney. i feel that he is the one to straighten out this country and the mess that it is in. i voted for a bomb at of years ago and i am very disappointed in him -- obama four years ago and i am very disappointed in him. >> what made you decide to vote for mitt romney? >> i think he is the only one who could really get us out of this position that we are in. it can go on like this. i am against oba

to really listen to what mr. romney said about this economy. if you are concerned about poverty, do you know that the number one group tracked in poverty is single thing all households -- single female soul? you need to look at stuff that the conservatives are saying because they care about the portrait they don't want people trapped in poverty. they know what small businesses, which employs 60-70% of the citizens and in this country, taxed more. if you tax small business, they are not going to hire. i don't know how you don't figure out what mr. romney so eloquently said in that debate. talking about politics of the 1% or the 47%, conservatives want the best for all folks, and yes, we mean thewe don't want them trapped in poverty. we want them married, paying their taxes -- host: we will get katrina vanden heuvel's response. guest: yeah. listen, if marriage will promote the well-being of the couple, children, great. but in my mind, it is and not just that. that is too simplistic. it is part of the equation. without good jobs, without ensuring that workers have rights and a time -- at the ti

axelrod allude to it. mr. woodhouse called romney a liar, and if we can roll a video of the obama campaign, insinuating that mitt romney was lying. was this anything you heard mitt romney lie about? >> he had the facts on his side and he came armed with them. again, anyone watching that debate would say, well, if he was lying why didn't the president point out what he was saying that was inaccurate? he didn't do it. mitt romney, again, has been very clear where he stands. this just shows this is a campaign that is grasping at straws and struggling because they know their candidate was embarrassed in front of the country. >> there are those, we have speculated every campaign does opposition republican, they try and time the release of videotape that has commitment saying 47 percent, blah, blah, blah. do they have another one these in their pockets? should we expect something? >> chicago politics? i would not be surprised if they release something. my advice when i work for candidates is, hire a private investigator on yourself before you run so you know what coming at you. i would be viced

win for mr. romney and will create a big change in the race. the media's reaction to the president's performance, plus that growing meningitis nightmare and the update than on the american airlines debacle. we have a lot to get to "happening now." bill: thanks, jon. a truly inspiring story of a high school football player, thanks to his faith and tireless work ethic, he's inspiring teammates with his story oohooo.! oh...there you go. wooohooo....hahaahahaha! i'm gonna stand up to her! no you're not. i know. you know ronny folks who save hundreds of dollars switching to geico sure are happy. how happy are they jimmy? happier than a witch in a broom factory. get happy. get geico. fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent or more. bill: seven minutes now before the hour. i'll share an amazing story with you today. meet salmon ark, 15 years young earning a spot on his high school football team despite a rare condition that prevents full development of his right arm. steve harrah gone has the story. >> defensive ends in football traditionally wrap-up opposing running backs with bot

mr. romney wants another $5 trillion in tax cuts that he can't pay for. we're not going to let that happen. we are not going to fall backward, not with so much at stake, not now. it didn't work then. it won't work now. and that's why i'm running for a second term as president of the united states. i will tell you, i'll tell you what we need to move forward. we got to invest in small business. we got to invest in manufacturers creating jobs here in ohio, here in the united states of america. we have got to recruit 100,000 new math and science teachers to train to make sure our young people have -- to make sure our young people have the skills that they need. we got to train 2 million workers at community colleges to bring down college tuition cost s. we got to cut our oil imports in half and create thousands of new jobs and energy. we got to use the savings from ending the war in iraq and afghanistan, to pay down our deficit. put some people to work, doing some nation building right here at home. that's the agenda we need. that's how you strengthen the middle class. that's how y

's debate performance. there were also some questions about the moderator, jim lehrer, watch this. >> mr. romney, do you have a question you would like to ask the president directly about something he just said? >> jim, the president began this segment, so i think i get the last word. >> you're going to get the first word in the next segment. >> but he gets the first word of that segment, i get the last word -- >> here's a specific. >> mention the other one, let's talk the big one. >> no, let's not. >> two minutes is up, sir. >> i think i had five seconds before you interrupted me was -- >> i sometimes wonder if we even need a moderator because we had mitt romney. we should rethink that for the next debate. >> joining us now two journalists from the website dailydownload.com. lauren is the site's founder, editor and chief also former managing editor "usa today" howie is host of cnn's "reliable sources" and washington bureau chief for "newsweek" magazine. he said, this is jim lehrer, part of my moderator position was to stay out of the way of the flow and i had no problems with doing so.

that the campaign walked about. today mr. obama said romney had been fact-checked by his own campaign. took a slight at that. trying to rally support in ohio where early voting has already started. this is a key battleground state, tamron. >> thank you, kristen. more on the breaking news. the new jobs numbers. in a statement john boehner said while there's positive news in today's report, job creation is far too slow and the unemployment rate is far too high. senate majority leader harry reid said with unemployment dropping below 8% to the lowest level in four years, our economy is on the right track. joining me now is "newsweek" columnist zachary caribel. we have one more jobs report left and let's move aahead and not talk about the ground game regarding the numbers we've seen. let's talk about the numbers we haven't seen coming up. >> you have to agree with boehner's comment, this may be the only time to say that. it's too slow and too many are unemploy unemployed. that won't change in the next four weeks. the numbers were revised up the past four months so you can see a report with the numbers re

, my reaction to the debate was, where is the substance, mr. romney? you are throwing around a lot of commons. is that a good debate? nobody had any plans. the president did not take credit for some of the things he is doing. second, minority communities are very scared of the voter i.d. is being glossed over that it has happened over and over again in elections. could you comment on how you are polling, and if you are involved with the hispanic and black leadership to make sure the vote gets out? >> i would disagree with the first part. i thought it was one of the more substantive debates i have seen in a while. i was watching some of the dial meters. when romney was going through his five-point plan, his numbers went straight up. i do not think it was vague, from either of them. there was a lot of specificity and substance. >> it is the most substantive debate that i can remember, in terms of policy and plans, in a long time. maybe the bar is set so low it is not hard to get over it. but i was kind of surprised. >> i thought -- i guess, what is substance these days, especially in

've done it before. i'll do it again. gleerp mr. president. >> first of all, i think governor romney's going to have a busy first day, because he's also going to repeal obamacare, which will not be very popular among democrats as you're sitting down with them. but, look, my philosophy has been i will take ideas from anybody, democrat or republican, as long as they're advancing the cause of making middle-class families stronger and giving ladders of opportunity to the middle class. that's how we cut taxes for middle-class families and small businesses. that's how we cut $1 trillion of spending that wasn't advancing that cause. that's how we signed three trade deals into law helping us double our exports and sell more american products around the world. that's how we repealed don't ask, don't tell. that's how we ended the war in iraq as i promised and that's how we're going to wind down the war in afghanistan, that's how we went after al qaeda and bin laden. so we've seen progress, even under republican control of the house of representatives. but ultimately, part of being principled,

record and like mitt romney said, you know, mr. president, you can say until the cows come home that i'm going to add $5 trillion to the deficit but it doesn't make it true. i think what we saw last night, we saw mitt romney, who looks presidential, who has a plan for the future, who talked about his plan and talked about creating 12 milli jobs. what we saw from president obama was -- wait a minute, piers. what we saw once again was -- >> this is my show, young lady. moving to brent o'donnell at high speed. now, from a purely technical point of view, in the way that barack obama conducted himself in appearance last night, a few things surprised me. most of all as i was watching, i was live tweeting, this continual looking down at his notes, disengaging completely from mitt romney. i just thought it looked strange. >> yeah. you know, his body language, what told an incredible story, the way he communicated last night said more than he actually said with his mouth. maria said he looked into the camera. he was looking down at his notepad way more than he was looking into the camera and hi
